Well, the day is finally here!!! I found some inspiration this weekend and was able to get over the last hurdle to get the office desk all organized and looking pretty!! I did make a trip to Target for something completely unrelated, but when I am there I can't help but walk down the office isle and I found two magazine files for $5.00 each. I thought it was a mistake and had to check with their price scanners :)
Let's take a step back in time to a few weeks ago when I shared the current state of our desk. Now, let me warn you it wasn't pretty, but don't fret a little hard work and it is looking pretty now!
Now, I will admit there were some nights I would just stare at the shelves pleading for inspiration to strike and some nights were I would move things around three or four times. Since our office was moved downstairs about six months ago we have been taking notes on how this area gets used and what will work best for us. I know there is still room for improvement for us, but I couldn't be more pleased with how the office looks now. Since pictures are worth a thousand words, lets get to them!!!
The two-tier holder was purchased at Target a while ago. It used to be on our fridge, but since our home binder is now on the shelf and this is where I pay the bills it made more sense for it to be here. I attached it to the side of the Expedit shelf using 3M tape.
Who knew I had four pairs of scissors, I know I didn't!! After cleaning out different drawers including our "junk" drawer I couldn't believe we had accumulated so many. I decided to put them up higher so the little grabby hands couldn't reach them (aka my sweet baby girls)!
The little brown case holds our USB drives and the blue box is my little treasure find from Walmart last year on black Friday. I had previously used it for my scrapbook supplies, but those are now mainly housed in mason jars. Once it was empty, I first thought to put printer paper in it, but then with the little compartments I found the perfect use for it.
I did find the perfect item to hold all of our different printer paper. Can you guess where it came from…Ikea!!! Such a perfect fit and the drawers slide out too!!
All of the green file bins came from The Container Store, which were purchased a long time ago during one of their sales. I know they still have them though!
Then behind the doors and drawers on the right side of the desk.
Moving onto the other side of the desk. This side houses the things for my husband's magazine subscription and his photography business, Kennedy Artworks.
And of course, let's see the before and after picture!!
I almost forgot to mention the chair. I have been eyeing this chair at Ikea for probably a year now. Well, last month it was on sale for Ikea Family Members for $45 for the chair and $4 for the slipcover. It is normally a $100 so heck yeah I wasn't passing up that deal!!!
So, what do you think??
With much love,
Kristin

Thank you so much!!!
DeleteLove the look, great ideas, smaller footprint with necessary items handy!
ReplyDeleteMy question, where did you get the side storage units? Perfect for my soon to be
Home office.
The two storage units are from the Ikea Expedit series, which unfortunately they discounted in April. They did replace it with something very similar called the Kallax series: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90275844/#/00275848.
DeleteLove your organized space and that blue cord box - I need 10 of those - no, really. My husband is an electronics cord keeper.
ReplyDeleteI know me too....I still kick myself for not picking up more boxes!!!
